Runner Profile: Champions Running for Dad

This year, Danita Dmetrichuk of Alberta, Canada, and Leanne Bartz of Seattle, WA, marked Father’s Day in a very special way, by running the Seattle Half Marathon in June to raise money for the Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of their fathers. Meet the Team Rock, Roll ‘n’ Running for Parkinson’s

Will you go the distance for Parkinson’s? At the Parkinson’s Foundation, we are building an inspiring team for the 2017 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series and we’ve still got entries left! Coming up, we have eight runners taking on four of the popular Rock ‘n’ Roll series races nationwide. The series includes more than 20 races (5ks, 10ks, half and full marathons) all of which feature commemorative medals and live music.

Rock, Roll ‘n’ Running for Parkinson’s: Q&A with Dr. Karen Ring

Karen Ring, Ph.D., of San Francisco, CA, is going the distance for Parkinson’s. On Sunday, March 26, she will run the United Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll San Francisco Half Marathon to raise funds for the Parkinson’s Foundation. She’s already surpassed her fundraising goal, raising more than $1,500 in honor of her Dad. Hear why Dr. Ring joined our Champions team and learn how you can get involved.

Creativity for a Cure: Q&A with Artist Catherine Shapiro

Catherine Shapiro of Coral Springs, FL, is getting creative in her efforts to find a cure for Parkinson’s. The artist, who is involved with our Creativity and Parkinson’s Project, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012. Recently, she was inspired to use her passion for creative fashion to support our work through a grassroots fundraiser, “Be Chic for Parkinson’s.” The event is taking place on Saturday in Coconut Creek, FL.
