Catherine Shapiro of Coral Springs, FL, is getting creative in her efforts to find a cure for Parkinson’s. The artist, who is involved with our Creativity and Parkinson’s Project, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2012. Recently, she was inspired to use her passion for creative fashion to support our work through a grassroots fundraiser, “Be Chic for Parkinson’s.” The event is taking place on Saturday in Coconut Creek, FL. Find out how her creativity inspires her to make a difference.
Life can change dramatically after a Parkinson’s diagnosis. As the disease progresses, it’s not uncommon for family members and friends to take on physical challenges to honor loved ones and support the cause. We are inspired by the athletes going the distance to #EndParkinsons! Who drives our work to end Parkinson’s disease? You do. That’s why PDF puts you front and center. It is why we are mobilizing a network of patient leaders, over 300 strong, who are changing lives and accelerating our work to end Parkinson’s. But we need your help to grow their numbers. Support the PDF patient leadership team today. When you do, donors from the PDF Leadership Circle will match every donation up to $500,000!
My wife, Marilyn, and I are constantly reminded of the critical role that health professionals play in helping us live our lives to the fullest with Parkinson’s disease. That’s why we work with PDF. Through innovative clinical and online trainings, PDF partners with health leaders to transform PD care. But we need your support to train even more health leaders.
As a scientist, I’m excited to tell you that the future is bright. Our team is discovering new compounds with the potential to ease symptoms and to stop Parkinson’s disease in its tracks. But more than ever, we need your support to make these discoveries a reality. That’s why I’m asking you to support the PDF team working to end Parkinson’s. When you do, donors from the PDF Leadership Circle will match every donation up to $500,000.
